Kebbi Police Arrest Man for Attempted Murder and Robbery

The Kebbi State Police Command arrested 45-year-old Bello Abubakar from Ganwo village, Yauri LGA, for attempted culpable homicide and robbery. The incident occurred on August 23, 2026, around 4 PM when Bello Umar, a 22-year-old commercial motorcyclist from Wasagu village, Danko/Wasagu LGA, was found with a severe head injury at Tungar Dariya bush, near Makera village, Shanga LGA.

Umar was taken to Koko General Hospital for treatment and later discharged. Investigations revealed that Abubakar had hired Umar's motorcycle from Koko town to Tungar Dariya bush, where he attacked him with a hoe, covered his body with leaves, believing him to be dead, and stole the motorcycle, fleeing to Yauri town.

Following diligent investigations, the stolen motorcycle was recovered, leading to Abubakar's arrest. The case has been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
