On Tuesday, the Kebbi State Police Command intervened to prevent an angry mob from lynching two men, Rufai Salihu and Aliyu Muhammad, suspected of motorcycle theft in the Gesse Phase 1 area of Birnin Kebbi. The police arrived after the suspects had sustained injuries from the mob attack.
The police quickly rescued them and took them for medical treatment. A Boxer motorcycle was recovered from the suspects at the scene.
Following the incident, the mob attempted to attack a police facility, prompting the deployment of reinforcement teams to maintain order. During the operation, police recovered seven additional abandoned motorcycles, which have been impounded as exhibits.
Both suspects are currently assisting police with investigations to determine their involvement in motorcycle theft and identify other individuals in the criminal network. Commissioner of Police Umar M.
Hadejia condemned the mob's actions and warned against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of reporting suspicious activities to the police.
