Police Arrest Married Woman, Hotel Staff Over Abuja Body Discovery

Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, a married woman, has been apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command following discovery of a man's body beneath the Katampe Bridge on the Kubwa Expressway on August 26, 2026. The deceased had initially been reported missing by family members.

Police Commissioner Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi revealed this development during a Saturday briefing at the command's Abuja headquarters on September 26. Early media coverage and public commentary linked the discovery to kidnapping or 'One Chance' robbery—criminal activities that have heightened resident fears in the territory's highway and bridge areas.

Nonetheless, police investigations unveiled an alternative explanation. The man had been staying at a Gwarimpa guest house alongside Mrs Muhammed, with whom he maintained a romantic relationship.

Multiple sources report that the suspect left the premises carrying the man's mobile phone following his death. The guest house's two staff members have similarly been implicated.

According to available reports, these workers participated in transporting and abandoning the corpse beneath the bridge. Police have withheld details regarding the cause of death—whether natural, accidental, or criminal in nature.
