Abia Police Arrest Officers Over Viral Misconduct Video

The Abia State Police Command has arrested officers involved in a viral social media video that allegedly depicts police misconduct at a checkpoint in Uturu, Abia State. The incident was addressed in a statement signed by DSP Maureen Chinaka on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa.

The command launched an immediate investigation following complaints received about the officers' behavior. The public was assured that updates would be provided regarding the investigation's outcome.

The video, which was recorded by a commuter at a police checkpoint in Umuahia, shows officers questioning the commuter about three mobile phones and responding in Pidgin English when asked why they were not wearing name tags. One officer reportedly stated, "No dey fear," when the commuter threatened to call the Inspector General of Police.

The command reiterated its commitment to professional discipline and warned that any form of misconduct would not be tolerated.
