Six Imo Police Officers Detained Over Assault Video

The Imo State Police Command has detained six officers in connection with a viral video that allegedly shows them assaulting two men in Ikeduru Local Government Area. The incident took place on June 22, 2026, and was brought to the command's attention after the video circulated on social media.

The officers identified in the video include Inspector Ugochukwu Ib, Inspector Nwachi Chimezi, Sergeant Ugoezuhu Austin, Corporal Michael Obi, Corporal Ebuka Onwuegbu, and Corporal Amo Sunni. Following a preliminary review, the command, led by DSP Henri Okoy, issued a statement confirming the commencement of disciplinary procedures against the officers.

CP Audu Bosso has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident to establish the full circumstances surrounding the misconduct. The command reiterated its commitment to professional conduct and respect for citizens' rights, stating that the actions of the officers do not reflect the standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
