Abia Police Investigate Attack on Officers Amid Tensions

The Abia State Police Command is currently investigating an attack on its officers in Akwet, which was sparked by a viral video that allegedly misrepresented the events surrounding a domestic incident. The incident involved Chidi Stanley Obiohuru, who is suspected of throwing a stone during an altercation that resulted in the death of his 8-year-old daughter, identified as Miss Chiamaka Stanley.

The police stated that the family attempted to proceed with burial arrangements without notifying authorities of the child's death. When police visited the scene, they faced resistance from community members, leading to heightened tensions.

The police command, under the leadership of Commissioner Danladi Isa, has warned against attacks on officers performing their lawful duties and has called for community cooperation to prevent further violence. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
