Police Arrest Over 500 Suspects in Major Security Operations

The police in Nigeria have arrested over 500 suspects across Kano, Ogun, and Katsina states in a series of coordinated operations aimed at strengthening security. In Kano, 193 suspects were apprehended during operations conducted from April 10 to 12, directed by Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

The police spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, reported the recovery of various items, including 51 cutlasses, 15 knives, 41 clubs, and large quantities of drugs. In Ogun State, 146 suspects were arrested in a security sweep named "Operation Keep Sagamu Safe," which targeted criminal hotspots and involved collaboration with military and civil defense agencies.

The Ogun State police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that the suspects underwent screening. Meanwhile, in Katsina, police rescued 12 kidnapping victims and arrested 188 suspects linked to 120 criminal cases in the past month.

The Katsina police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, noted the recovery of firearms and the importance of community policing in enhancing public safety.
