Police Arrest Cultist in Enugu, Seizes Fake Gun and Drugs

On May 26, 2026, at 8:30 PM, the Enugu State Police Command's Anti-Cultism Sub-Unit and Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) conducted an operation based on credible intelligence in the New Artisan area of Enugu. They arrested 28-year-old Osani Joseph, who is suspected of being an armed robber and a cultist.

During the raid at Joseph's residence in Premier Layout, police recovered a silver-colored imitation handgun, a dagger, ten wraps of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine (known locally as mkpuru mmiri), and a sachet containing a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa. Joseph allegedly confessed to using the gun to rob unsuspecting members of the public and admitted to belonging to the Supremacy Vike confraternity.

SP Daniel Ndukw, the police spokesperson, stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of Joseph's alleged criminal network for prosecution. CP Bitru Giwa, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, reaffirmed the command's commitment to tackling crime and urged residents to remain vigilant and support the police with credible information.
