Sokoto Police Arrest Six in Theft Operations

The Sokoto State Police Command arrested six suspected members of criminal syndicates involved in housebreaking, theft, and receiving stolen property through intelligence-led operations. The operations, executed by the command’s Strike Force, resulted in the recovery of stolen motorcycles, a sewing machine, and several mobile phones.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, detailed that the first operation was initiated after Mahadi Abubakar reported a burglary on July 24, where items including a sewing machine, 13 mobile phones, and ₦50,750 were stolen. Anas Bello was arrested while attempting to sell the stolen sewing machine, leading to further arrests.

In a separate operation, three suspects were apprehended for stealing motorcycles on August 2. The Commissioner of Police, Hassan Shaffa, commended the Strike Force for their efforts and warned criminals to cease unlawful activities, emphasizing the commitment to recover stolen property and bring all perpetrators to justice.
