Police Arrest Bandit Informants, Recover 97 Livestock

On May 15, 2023, the Sokoto State Police Command arrested two suspected bandit informants, Yahaya Kurma and Musa Lawali Kurya, in Rabah Local Government Area. The arrests were part of a broader effort to combat banditry and terrorism in the region.

The police recovered 97 livestock, including 78 stolen cows and 19 sheep, during separate operations. The suspects had been on the police intelligence watchlist for their alleged involvement in supplying logistical and financial support to bandit groups operating in Rabah, Kware, and Wurno Local Government Areas.

Following a bandit attack on Gimba Village on May 14, police engaged in a gun duel with the assailants, who fled into nearby forests, abandoning the stolen animals. Additionally, three other suspects, Ibrahim Aliyu, Rabiatu Ibrahim, and Aisha Ibrahim, were arrested in connection with the theft of sheep in Badageni Village.

The Sokoto State Police Command, led by spokesperson Ahmad Rufa, is committed to tackling insecurity and urges residents to support security agencies with credible information.
