Sokoto Police Foil Bandit Attacks, Recover Ammunition

The Sokoto State Police Command has reported significant success in combating banditry within the state. On April 8, a police operation, in collaboration with military forces and local vigilantes, successfully repelled an armed bandit attack on Kwarangamba Gaya Village in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

During the engagement, the bandits were forced to retreat, resulting in the recovery of 167 rounds of live ammunition. Police Commissioner Hassan Shaffa disclosed these details during a press briefing at the command headquarters on Friday.

Additionally, on April 15, the command conducted a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in Tambuw Kware and Goronyo Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of three suspects. Items recovered during this operation included a locally made firearm, an AK-47 magazine, military camouflage, and suspected Indian hemp.

The suspects have been charged in court as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the area.
