Ondo Police Arrest Notorious Cult Leader Akinwal Tomiwa

The Ondo State Police Command arrested Akinwal Tomiwa, a suspected notorious cult leader, on Sunday. Tomiwa, known as "Bella," is alleged to be the leader of the Eiye confraternity operating within the vicinity of Rufu Giwa Polytechnic in Owo.

His arrest followed credible intelligence that indicated he was sighted around NEPA junction in Akure. The operation was conducted by the command's special anti-cultism squad, which successfully apprehended him without incident.

Preliminary investigations link Tomiwa to the killing of a student named Ojo Peter on December 12, 2025. The police spokesman, Abayomi Jimoh, stated that the suspect's involvement in cult-related rivalries has raised concerns within the community.

Further investigations revealed that Tomiwa had featured on social media platforms related to cult activities and was allegedly involved in an attack against members of a rival cult group. During the search, several items, including criminal charms believed to be used for protection and intimidation during cult activities, were recovered.
