Police Arrest Tricycle Robbery Syndicate in Rivers State

On March 19, 2026, the Rivers State Police Command arrested a suspected tricycle robbery syndicate after receiving a report from Sadiq Gara, a 32-year-old tricycle operator. Gara reported that on March 18, 2026, he was robbed at gunpoint by three passengers in Elelenwo, Port Harcourt.

Following this report, police actions led to the recovery of stolen tricycles and the arrest of two suspects, identified as Abdullahi Moham (23) and Yusuf Umaru (25), along with Moham Usman (28). During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery and admitted to delivering twenty stolen tricycles to Kano, Bauchi, and Adamawa states.

The police recovered a locally made pistol, two live cartridges, and two stolen tricycles from the suspects. The investigation revealed that the suspects were part of a syndicate responsible for multiple tricycle thefts in the area.

Rivers State Police Commissioner Olugbenga Adepoju advised the public, especially commercial tricycle operators, to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
