Police Arrest Seven for Disrupting Sallah Celebration

On Wednesday, at approximately 2:00 PM, seven suspects disrupted a Sallah celebration in a Katsina community, leading to injuries among several residents. The suspects, identified as Dayyabu Salisu (25), Usama Mansur (23), Yunusa Nura (27), Abdulmumini Alka (23), Buhari Suleiman (27), and Abubakar Safiyanu (27), were arrested by the Katsina Police Command's Violence Control Response Unit (VCRU) following a distress report.

Police spokesman DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu disclosed that the suspects allegedly used sticks and machetes during the attack. Items including a machete and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects conspired to disrupt the peaceful Sallah celebration, breaching public peace in the area. The injured victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ali Umar Fage, condemned the attack and assured residents of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property. The suspects are expected to face charges in court as investigations continue.
