Police Arrest Three for Abducting Toddlers in Rivers State

The Abia State Police Command arrested three suspects involved in the abduction of two children from Rivers State. The suspects are Vera Imiobong Udoyang, aged 30, from Akwa Ibom State; Chioma Duru Ukanwok, aged 40, from Imo State; and Ezinn Ukandu, aged 41, from Abia State.

The police successfully rescued the children, Caleb Tamunoy Paul, a three-year-old boy, and Joi David, a three-year-old girl, and reunited them with their parents. According to a statement issued by the police on Sunday, the operation was based on credible intelligence and collaboration with local vigilance.

Vera Udoyang was arrested on May 10, 2026, while in possession of the children in Abia State. Upon interrogation, she confessed to stealing the children by luring them with doughnuts and soft drinks in Okrika, Rivers State.

Preliminary investigations revealed that she had contacted Chioma Ukanwok to facilitate an illegal adoption arrangement. The suspects are currently in custody, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend others involved.
