Three Arrested in Ekiti Council Chairman Abduction Case

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction of Funso Ajayi, the chairman of Iker West Local Council Development Area. The incident occurred on June 3, 2026, at approximately 9 PM when Ajayi was accosted by armed men in camouflage uniforms while on Anoy Street in Iker Ekiti.

Following a preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the suspects allegedly assaulted Ajayi before taking him away. He was later released.

The police, led by spokesperson Sundai Abutu, emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation and stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects. The police have warned citizens, particularly political party loyalists, against taking the law into their own hands and inciting violence.

The suspects will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded, and the police assured that no stone would be left unturned in addressing the incident.
