Two More Arrested in Ekiti Council Boss Abduction Case

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two more suspects, Daramola Sehind and Oluyed Dapo, in connection with the abduction of Rufu Olorunfemi, the chairman of Iker West Local Council Development Area, which occurred on June 4, 2026. This follows the initial arrest of three suspects earlier in the month.

The police have dismissed allegations made by Ayodeji Ogunsakin, the deputy governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party, claiming that the police are intimidating and unlawfully arresting party members ahead of the upcoming elections. Police spokesperson Sundai Abutu stated that the arrests are linked to a conspiracy to abduct and assault Olorunfemi and emphasized the command's commitment to justice and the rule of law.

The police have urged citizens to avoid spreading false narratives and to abide by the law.
