Three Arrested in Rivers State Driver's Murder Case

The Rivers State Police Command arrested three suspects—David Mark, Nkajit William, and Godgift John—following the murder of Christoph Emmanuel Akpabio, a 55-year-old native of Akwa Ibom State. The investigation began after Akpabio disappeared on May 22, 2026, after being hired to transport guests to a traditional marriage ceremony in Asarama Community, Andoni Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects, who are natives of Andoni and Okrika Local Government Areas, had sinister motives related to the murder and theft of Akpabio's vehicle, a black Daihatsu Hijet minibus with registration number BGM 328 DA. The police discovered Akpabio's remains buried in a shallow grave in Asarama Community.

The arrests were made on May 28, 2026, as part of a proactive crime-fighting strategy led by Rivers State Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju. The police urged the public to exercise caution when engaging transport services, especially at night.
