Four Arrested for Mob Killing of Emmanuel Effiong in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested four suspects involved in the mob killing of 21-year-old Emmanuel Effiong. The incident occurred after Effiong was allegedly accused of stealing chicken eggs on April 19 at a poultry farm located along Mbak 4 Community in Uyo Local Government Area.

According to the police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, Effiong was beaten with sticks and machetes until he succumbed to his injuries. Following credible information and a viral video clip showing the brutal assault, the police initiated an investigation that led to the arrests.

The investigation also recovered critical evidence, including a white Mitsubishi pick-up van allegedly used during the offense. State Commissioner of Police Baba Azar condemned the act and emphasized that anyone apprehended for such offenses would face the law, reaffirming the command's commitment to protecting human life and upholding the rule of law.
