Police Arrest Three Cultists, Seize Weapons in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command arrested three suspected cultists during an intelligence-led operation in Imota. The operation was initiated following credible information from the public regarding cult activities in the area.

The arrested individuals are Jelili Adeyemo, 37, alleged to be the group's armourer; Bisoye Adewale, 42; and John Okeafo, 60. The police recovered a variety of weapons, including one Beretta pistol, one locally made pistol, seven Dane guns, ten live cartridges, seven expended cartridges, one stun gun, two handcuffs, and four cutlasses.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of the Aiye Confraternity, and the Beretta pistol is reportedly linked to a notorious cultist known as ‘Mayibone,’ who remains at large. The suspects have been arraigned and remanded, with ongoing efforts to capture other fleeing gang members and recover more weapons.

Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating cultism and urged residents to provide timely information to assist in crime-fighting efforts.
