Police Arrest Transnational Human Trafficking Suspect In Enugu

Enugu State Police Command arrested Raymond Sunday Wonna, a transnational human trafficking suspect, and rescued two victims, Miracle Ogar, 18, and Angela Kingsley, from Yala local government area in Cross River State. The suspect was apprehended on July 30, 2025, by the Crack Tactical Squad during a routine patrol along the Expressway.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were trafficked to Ghana under the guise of securing job opportunities. The suspect, claiming to be a casual laborer, lured the victims from Ogoja, Cross River State, to work at a restaurant allegedly owned by his mistress in Ghana.
The police spokesman added that the suspect also attempted to rape one of the victims while lodging at a hotel. Efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the trafficking network.
The Commissioner of Police for Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift intervention, urging citizens to remain vigilant.
