Police Arrest Two Suspects in Military Recruits Kidnapping

On August 1, 2026, the Kebbi State Police Command arrested two suspects, Abubakar Mallan Abubakar and Usman Muhammadu, linked to the abduction of three newly passed-out military recruits along the Anka/Bukuyum Road in Zamfara State. The arrests occurred during an intelligence-led operation based on credible information.

Preliminary investigations indicated that one suspect provided significant disclosures regarding the kidnapping, which took place in July 2026 along the Kwanan Mayanchi–Gurusu axis of Zamfara State. One of the victims was identified as Kabiru Hassan from Ribah in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, while the other two were from Zuru Local Government Area.

All three victims have regained their freedom. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police Umar Mohammed Hadejia commended the operation's success and reaffirmed the command's commitment to prosecuting all individuals involved in this and other criminal activities.
