Police Arrest Two in Foiled Ekiti Kidnapping Plot

On July 4, 2026, the Ekiti State Police Command foiled a kidnapping plot in Ayed Ekiti, arresting two suspects, Mumini Muham (23) and Kehind Oseni (22). The operation was conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit in collaboration with the Ayed Ekiti Division Police Headquarters following credible intelligence.

The suspects were apprehended while attempting to sell two stolen cows for 1.5 million naira, which they allegedly intended to use to finance their kidnapping plan. During preliminary investigations, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and provided a confession statement.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other gang members, and a firearm was recovered from the suspects. They will be charged in court once the investigation concludes.
