Police Arrest Two Cultists, Recover Firearm in Ondo

On April 11, 2026, the Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Adebowale Lawal, arrested two suspected cultists, Nnamdi Sunday Adegbuyi and Seyi, during an operation conducted by the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Akure. This operation was prompted by credible intelligence regarding the activities of a miscreant group in the area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are affiliated with the notorious Eiye and Aiye confraternities, which have been linked to recurring violent incidents in the state. Specifically, the suspects were allegedly involved in a cult clash on April 9, 2026, within the premises of Adeyemi Federal University of Education in Ondo, which disrupted public peace.

Upon their arrest, the police recovered a locally made English pistol from the suspects' hideout in the Oka Garage area. The police reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating cultism and violent crime in the state and urged residents to provide credible information to assist in their operations.
