Enugu Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers

On May 14, 2026, at 1:20 PM, the Enugu State Police Command arrested two suspected kidnappers, identified as Mohan Hassan, 28, and Aminu Usman, 26, natives of Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State. The arrests occurred in Amutenyi, Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, during an operation conducted in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

The police recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of 9mm live ammunition, three stolen motorcycles, a mobile phone, an ATM card, and a sum of N4,700 from the suspects. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are members of a kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate allegedly involved in motorcycle theft operations across the border communities of Enugu and Benue states.

SP Daniel Ndukw, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrests and stated that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate. Police Commissioner Mamman Giwa reaffirmed the command's commitment to eradicating criminal elements in the state.
