Police Arrest Two Kidnappers, Recover AK-47 in FCT

On June 24-26, 2023, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) conducted an operation in the FCT-Nasarawa area, leading to the arrest of two suspected kidnappers identified as Buhari Adamu, 25, and Abubakar Saidu, 28. The operation was part of an intelligence-led effort to dismantle a kidnapping syndicate responsible for a series of abductions and murders along the border of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa State.

Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to a violent attack on May 16 in Gbagalap, where several residents were abducted, and others were killed or injured. During the raid on the gang's hideout in Gbagalap Hill, police recovered an AK-47 rifle, 22 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and 14 cows and three sheep.

The Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, reaffirmed the force's commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations against violent criminal networks across the country.
