Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing Three-Year-Old

The Kwara State Police Command arrested Sadiat Yunusa for the alleged murder of three-year-old Ummaiyat Y. in Kaiama Local Government Area. Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi announced the arrest on Friday in Ilorin, detailing that the investigation began on July 25, 2026, after a report was received at the Kaiama Divisional Police Headquarters regarding the child's suspicious death.

Preliminary findings revealed that Ummaiyat had been left in the care of a family member while her mother was at the market. During this time, Yunusa allegedly lured the child to a nearby farm settlement, where she caused the child's death by strangulation.

Adekimi stated that Yunusa confessed to the crime during interrogation, citing resentment and jealousy related to her husband's relationship with his second wife as motives. The suspect has been charged to court, and the police assured the public of their commitment to thorough investigations and prosecutions of criminal cases.
