Three Arrested Over Teacher Mariam Usman's Death in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in relation to the death of Mariam Usman, a staff member at Brain Mind Nursery Primary School in Ugbamaka, Olamaboro Local Government Area. The investigation began on June 17, 2026, after Abdullahi Isiaka allegedly assaulted Usman due to disciplinary action she took against his 11-year-old son during school hours.

Following this incident, on June 18, 2026, Ojonojima Mari, the younger sister of Ramatu Isiaka, reportedly attacked Usman at her workplace. After the assaults, Usman was treated at a clinic in Ugbamaka and later referred to a medical facility in Okpo, where she eventually died.

The police have established a prima facie case of conspiracy and culpable homicide against the suspects: Ojonojima Mari, Ramatu Isiaka, and Abdullahi Isiaka, who are set to be arraigned in a court with competent jurisdiction.
