Kebbi Police Launch Offensive After Deadly Attacks

Following deadly coordinated attacks in the Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State that left at least 44 people dead, the Kebbi State Police Command has initiated a statewide offensive. The attacks affected communities including Gebe, Kalkami, Kawara, Kasoshi, Away, Tungar Rini, Binuwa, and Dabe.

In response, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has ordered immediate security deployments across the state, targeting high-risk areas such as forests and farmland. Police spokesperson Bashir Usman confirmed that operations have begun to restore stability, with significant police and security agency presence aimed at calming affected areas.

Ongoing investigations and coordinated patrols are part of the effort, which has already resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles. Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia has urged residents to support security operations by reporting suspicious activities.

The police appeal for cooperation from traditional rulers, religious leaders, and youth groups to assist in intelligence gathering against armed groups operating in the region.
