Police Break Silence on Report Linking IGP’s Wife to N6,000 Dues, “She Never Collected a Kobo”

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a report linking the Inspector General of Police's wife to the collection of N6,000 dues from police officers. The Force spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the report was false and malicious, emphasizing that the IGP's wife never collected any money.

He clarified that the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) is a voluntary organization and any contributions made are donations. In a separate incident, the Lagos Airport Police Command is investigating an alleged assault involving musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal.

Additionally, the Force addressed rumors of the IGP's tenure extension, stating that he would need an appointment letter for such an extension. In a positive development, Nigerian police officer Sentome Obi was promoted by the IGP for turning in a bribe and was rewarded with a new car, house, and other gifts.
