Police Arrest Suspected Drug Dealer in Delta State

On August 8, 2026, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Delta State Police Command conducted an intelligence-led raid on a suspected criminal hideout located in Owa-Abbi, Ukwani Local Government Area. This operation was part of the crime-fighting initiative spearheaded by Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.

During the raid, police arrested 56-year-old Lucky Oyiboka and recovered 21 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, stated that preliminary investigations indicated Oyiboka's involvement in the distribution of illicit drugs.

The investigation is ongoing to uncover the extent of the drug network and identify additional individuals connected to the operation. Oyiboka remains in custody and is expected to be charged in court following the conclusion of the investigation.
