Delta Police Arrest 56-Year-Old for Indian Hemp Distribution

On August 8, 2026, the Delta State Police Command's Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) arrested a 56-year-old man named Oyiboka during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Owa-Abbi, located in the Ukwani Local Government Area of Delta State. The operation was conducted based on credible intelligence regarding illicit drug activities in the area.

During the search of the premises, law enforcement officials recovered 21 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp. According to the command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, preliminary investigations indicated that Oyiboka was allegedly involved in the distribution of illicit drugs within the state.

Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the extent of the drug network and identify additional individuals connected to the operation. Edafe assured that Oyiboka would be charged in court once the investigation is concluded.
