Police Arrest Gang Using Fake Uniforms for Robbery in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command arrested three suspects—Obinna Okek (27), Emmanuel Anyanwu (38), and Joshua Nkemdirim (31)—for allegedly using fake security uniforms to rob residential estates. The arrests occurred in the early hours of Tuesday during a coordinated police operation, as disclosed in a statement by the command's spokesperson, Olohundar Jimoh, on Wednesday.

The gang specialized in disguising themselves as security personnel to deceive residents and gain access to gated communities. They reportedly wore fake security uniforms and used modified Mercedes car jacks designed to resemble firearms to enter estates.

The suspects vandalized vehicles, including Toyota Hilux, Toyota Highlander, Lexus 650 Jeep, and a Mercedes Benz SUV, removing valuable components such as brain boxes, wires, side mirrors, and control devices. The police recovered several items from the suspects, including vehicles and tools used in the operations.

Jimoh urged residents to remain vigilant and verify the identity of individuals claiming to be security personnel before granting access.
