Police Rescue Two Colombian Nationals from Traffickers

On 26 August 2026, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, specifically from the National Central Bureau (NCB-INTERPOL) in Lagos, uncovered and dismantled a human trafficking syndicate. They successfully rescued two Colombian nationals, Maria Camila Rodas Ortiz and Yuliet Fernanda Rios Mesa, who were allegedly lured to Nigeria and held captive.

The victims had their travel documents confiscated by certain Chinese nationals, who are currently at large. Following actionable intelligence received from INTERPOL-NCB in Bogotá, police operatives launched a covert operation that led to the victims' rescue on the same day.

The suspects fled upon the police's arrival. The rescued victims are now in safe custody and receiving necessary support, with the Colombian Embassy in Accra coordinating to secure hotel accommodation and emergency travel documents for their return to Bogotá.
