NIS Dismantles Human Trafficking Syndicate in Lagos

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dismantled a transnational human trafficking and fraudulent recruitment syndicate operating in Lagos State, arresting 12 foreigners, including the alleged leader Ouattra Adama, a Burkinabe national. The operation, which took place following actionable intelligence, also resulted in the rescue of two Liberian victims.

The NIS reported that the syndicate lured foreign nationals into Nigeria with false promises of employment and business opportunities under the guise of the QNET/IGNITE network. The arrested individuals included eight Liberians and three Cameroonians.

The NIS described the QNET/IGNITE network as a transnational organized crime syndicate involved in fraudulent employment schemes facilitating irregular migration. The suspects and victims have been transferred to the Service Headquarters for further investigation and legal action.

The NIS emphasized its commitment to combating irregular migration and transnational organized crime, urging the public to verify employment and migration offers through appropriate government channels.
