Edo Police Arrest 87, Rescue 30 Kidnap Victims in Raids

The Edo State Police Command has successfully arrested 87 suspects and rescued 30 kidnap victims as part of an intensified offensive against violent crime in the state. This operation, disclosed by Commissioner of Police Mondai Agbonika during a press conference in Benin City, involved the deployment of helicopters and newly acquired drone technology for real-time aerial reconnaissance.

The operations targeted criminal hideouts in Edo North and Edo Central, leading to the dismantling of several kidnap camps. Additionally, the police arrested 13 murder suspects, 14 armed robbery suspects, and 15 cultists during this period.

The command also recovered six stolen vehicles, three stolen motorcycles, 39 stolen phones, and various arms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles and pistols. Agbonika commended Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for approving the deployment of tactical intelligence support.

The operations were conducted in synergy with the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local hunters.
