11 Killed, 50 Houses Burned in Nasarawa Clashes

On April 3, 2026, clashes in the Akyawa and Udeg Kasa communities of Nasarawa State resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals and the destruction of 50 houses. The violence is believed to be a reprisal for the alleged killing of two kinsmen earlier that day, involving suspected hoodlums.

The Nigerian Police Force, represented by Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the tragic incident and stated that Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Moham visited the affected communities to express condolences. Following the attacks, CP Jauro ordered an intensified manhunt for the perpetrators and directed the deployment of additional police personnel, in collaboration with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, to restore peace and security in the area.

Stakeholder meetings were also held to urge residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
