Tunji Disu Confirmed as New Inspector-General of Police

The Police Council confirmed Tunji Disu as the Inspector-General of Police during a meeting held on Monday. This confirmation aligns with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.

Disu's name was submitted to President Bola Tinubu, who accepted the resignation of the former Inspector-General, Egbetokun, last week. The President expressed appreciation for Egbetokun's service to the Nigerian Police Force.

The meeting included key figures such as Vice President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Geidam. Governors from various states, including Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, were also present.

The appointment of Tunji Disu as the acting Inspector-General of Police takes immediate effect, as stated in the official announcement.
