Tinubu to Swear in Tunji Disu as New IGP Wednesday

President Bola Tinubu will swear in Tunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police after the Nigeria Police Council unanimously ratified his appointment. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place during a Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

Tinubu's special adviser confirmed the details on Monday. The appointment follows the resignation of former Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised Disu for his exemplary service, particularly during his tenure as the commander of the Rapid Response Squad from 2015 to 2021. Other governors, including Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State and Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, also commended Disu's professional record.

Disu, born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos State, joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, and has held various significant positions, including Assistant Inspector General in charge of the Special Protection Unit.
