Fire Breaks Out at Lagos Airport's Old Terminal

On Monday, a fire erupted at the old terminal (Terminal 1) of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, leading to an emergency response that included the deployment of police helicopters. ASP Moham Adeola, the police public relations officer, confirmed that the distress call was received at 3:45 PM via radio communication from the aviation security base station.

The terminal is currently undergoing major renovations, and the flames extended towards the control tower area. Emergency protocols were activated, with coordination from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Lagos State Fire Rescue Service.

The police ensured perimeter security and crowd control to maintain safety for personnel on the scene. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties, and the situation is being monitored to prevent secondary incidents.

FAAN announced the fire outbreak via their official channels, urging the public to rely on accurate information and allow emergency teams unhindered access.
