Kebbi State Police Detain Suspects in Sisters' Deaths

The Kebbi State Police Command has detained suspects in connection with the deaths of two young sisters, aged three and six, who reportedly died on March 18 due to alleged medical negligence at a hospital in Zuru. The state government has initiated a probe panel to investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Nafi U Abubakar, the police public relations officer, confirmed the arrests and stated that investigations are ongoing. Following public outrage over the alleged wrongful administration of medication, Governor Nasir Idris approved the formation of a special committee to investigate the controversial deaths.

The panel, chaired by Ahmad Aliyu, has begun hearings at the hospital, where testimonies from hospital staff, parents of the deceased, and medical personnel, including Principal Medical Officer Dr. Thomas Gode and Medical Officer Dr.

Moham Fakai, are being collected. The committee emphasizes the need for adherence to medical ethics to prevent costly mistakes that could endanger lives.
