Ondo Police Deny Rumors of Curfew in Akur

The Ondo State Police Command has officially dismissed rumors circulating within Akur regarding the imposition of a traditional curfew, describing these claims as false and misleading. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, representing the command, stated that there is currently no security situation that warrants panic or apprehension among residents.

The police emphasized that the spread of such rumors creates unnecessary fear and confusion. They advised the public to disregard the misinformation and continue their daily activities without fear, while also warning individuals and groups involved in spreading fake news to desist, as such actions undermine public peace and security.

The statement follows a similar denial issued by the palace of the Deji of Akur, which rejected claims of a curfew slated for 9 PM. This clarification comes amid heightened security challenges in parts of Southwest Nigeria, including incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery.
