Ondo Government and Police Deny Kidnapping Rumors

The Ondo State government and the Ondo State Police Command have officially dismissed rumors circulating on social media regarding alleged kidnappings in schools within the Akure metropolis. In a statement issued by Ebenez Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Lucki Aiyedatiwa, the government described the reports as false, stating there have been no recorded incidents of kidnapping in primary, secondary, or tertiary institutions in Akure.

The government assured that schools are safe and open for academic activities without disruption. Security agencies, including the police, Amotekun Corps, and the Department of State Services (DSS), have verified the security environment in Akure, confirming normalcy.

The police command, represented by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, also emphasized that there is no credible intelligence indicating the presence of bandits in the area. Residents, particularly parents and guardians, were urged to disregard the rumors and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
