Nigeria Police Dismisses Fake Training Notice for Recruits

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a disclaimer regarding a viral social media publication that falsely directed prospective Police Constable recruits to report for training on September 18, 2026. The Force clarified that the publication, which appeared to be an official communication, is not sanctioned by them and should be disregarded.

The forged letter, dated September 1, 2026, mimicked official police stationery and listed personal items required for training at various state headquarters. The Nigeria Police Force emphasized that all prospective trainees should depend solely on information from their recruitment portals and official communication channels for accurate updates.

This disclaimer follows the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables, ordered by President Bola Tinubu in late 2025 to enhance security and strengthen the Force. The Police Service Commission, which manages the recruitment process in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, opened the application portal on December 15, 2025, and released the list of successful candidates in July 2026.
