Police Prevent Bomb Attack, Arrest Six in Ondo State

On April 15, 2026, the Ondo State Police, led by Commissioner Adebowal Lawal, successfully averted a planned bomb attack in Akur, Ondo State, arresting six suspects. The suspects, identified as Adekunl Prosper (56), Ojo Olumid (39), Tope Kolawol (40), Ahm Salihu (40), Bolaji Adebowal (46), and Gbadebo Abidemi (43), were apprehended following intelligence reports that indicated a coordinated plan to deploy explosives at strategic locations.

During a search of their hideout in the Ok Odu area, police uncovered materials for improvised explosive devices, 217 bottles of sugar, 17 mobile phones, two laptops, N187,000 in cash, and a motorcycle. Preliminary investigations revealed that the group had been assembling explosive devices and had documented maps of potential targets, indicating a premeditated attack.

Commissioner Lawal urged property owners to conduct thorough background checks on tenants to prevent their premises from being used for criminal activities.
