Niger Police Foil Armed Robbery, Arrest Cannabis Dealer

On April 19, 2026, the Niger Police Command disrupted an armed robbery attempt in the Sauka Kahuta area of Minna. The gang, consisting of six armed men, invaded a residential building, but their attack was thwarted when the occupants resisted, resulting in injuries to one suspect.

The gang fled, abandoning a locally made pistol, a cutlass, and other items. Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed ongoing efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and recover stolen mobile phones.

Separately, on April 10, 2026, at 3:30 PM, police arrested Rukayya Moham, 28, in the Barrack Gate area of Kontagora during a stop-and-search operation. She was found with a polythen bag containing cannabis, which she allegedly sold to the public.

Moham has been charged in court, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend her alleged supplier.
