Police Foil Armed Robbery, Arrest Suspect in Niger State

On Sunday, a distress call was received by the Niger State Police regarding an armed robbery incident in the Sauka Kahuta area of Minna at approximately 9:00 AM. Preliminary investigations revealed that a gang of six armed men invaded a residential building, armed with guns and cutlasses, and attempted to dispossess the occupants of two mobile phones.

The robbery was disrupted when the occupants resisted the attack, injuring one of the assailants with a cutlass. The gang fled the scene, abandoning a locally made pistol, a cutlass, a pair of slippers, and a flashlight.

Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident and stated that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects. In a separate operation, Rukayya Moham, a 28-year-old female suspect, was arrested in Kontagora on April 10, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation, where she was found with a polyethene bag containing suspected cannabis.

She confessed to selling the substance and has been charged in court.
