Police Foil Bomb Plot in Ondo, Arrest Six Suspects

On April 15, 2026, the Police in Ondo, led by Commissioner Adebowal Lawal, successfully foiled a bomb plot and arrested six suspects believed to be part of a criminal network operating across multiple states. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence that identified the location of the suspects in the Ok Odu area of Akure.

During the search, police uncovered items believed to be components of an improvised explosive device, along with 217 bottles of bag sugar, 17 mobile phones, two laptops, N187,000 cash, and a motorcycle. The suspects were identified as Adekunl Prosper (56), Ojo Olumid (39), Tope Kolawol (40), Ahm Salihu (40), Bolaji Adebowal (46), and Gbadebo Abidemi (43).

Preliminary findings suggested that the group intended to assemble explosive devices for strategic attacks. Lawal urged landlords and property managers to conduct proper background checks on tenants to prevent unlawful activities.

Additionally, during a separate operation, police arrested 10 individuals suspected of cult-related activities in Ondo town.
