Police Rescue Five Kidnapped Victims in Abuja Operation

On June 9, 2026, the FCT Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Ahm Sanusi, conducted a successful clearance operation in the Byazhin community of Abuja, rescuing five kidnapped victims. The operation involved the Anti-Kidnap Unit and local vigilante groups.

During the operation, a gun duel ensued, resulting in the deaths of two kidnappers and the arrest of two others. The operation was initiated following a recent surge in kidnappings in the area.

Police spokesperson Josephin Adeh reported that the joint security team launched an intensive search at approximately 9:00 PM. The operation also recovered two AK-47 rifles and magazines.

Authorities urged healthcare practitioners to report any individuals with gunshot-related injuries. The rescued victims received medical attention, and efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families while the search for fleeing suspects continues.
