Police Chief Advocates Education Reform for Officers

On Thursday, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu stated that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has been crucial in maintaining national stability despite various security challenges. During his visit to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) headquarters in Abuja, Disu stressed the need for significant investment in education and training for police officers.

He noted that many complaints against the police stem from inadequate education and emphasized the importance of upgrading educational standards. Disu highlighted the establishment of a new police academy in Ogun State as part of the NPF's modernization agenda.

He praised TETFund's interventions in improving academic environments and infrastructure within police institutions. Disu also called for a research-driven approach to policing, incorporating technology such as artificial intelligence and data analytics to predict crime trends.

He urged continued support from TETFund to sustain academic infrastructure development, reinforcing the commitment of the police to maintain national security.
